I am trying to source a couple of audio attenuators to reduce the level
between source and line level input (-3dB, -6dB). These to be based on RCA
phono connectors. Such a product used to be available for early CD players.
I have searched Maplin & RadioSpares sites without success.
Any helpful thoughts?
JB

Try playing around with a couple of very low wattage resistors (i.e.
miniature) built into a in-line phono plug. I built myself a 10dB reduction
using (if I remember right) 22K in series with the centre core and 10K
between core and phono body.
Have fun.

go to partsexpress.com and enter RCA LINE LEVEL ATTENUATOR in the search box.
They have 1, 3 and 6db attenuators.

They do, or at least they did when I ordered the same part 6 months ago

Have you tried Canford Audio?

Well if you can't solder a couple of resistors between a plug and a
socket yourself ...

Make them. Cut the ends off the covers of inline males and females and
glue together with superglue. As regards the resistor values, there are
several freebie progs for calculating these.

One such is an old DOS prog from RF Specialities of Washington which is
great - although I'll bet there are other more modern ones.

Thanks to everybody who helped!
I have found what I wanted in Keene's on-line catalogue, although not in the
2003 paper catalogue.
In addition I renewed contact with somebody I hadn't met for 40 years!
