Default Name that song

A group, all white blokes, I think,

That would be Peter Paul and Mary. Mary was Mark before the sex change.

not sure which nationality, but sing in English,

I don't think the USA is sure what nationality they are, since they are
basically all middle Europeans and South Americans posing as the liberators of
the known world. Hence the frequent 'reinforcement' of the flag etc to try to
get used to being American.

a sort of mildly progressive pop ballad,
singer-guitarist slightly plump, I think, and definitely bald, and definitely

sat on a chair all through the video clip,

Yep, Peter, Paul and Mary. Did one of them have a beard? That was Mary.

and here is the most helpful clue :
the audience in the video clip sing along in the refrain

They always do with Peter Paul and Mary.

and make some kind of sign with their hands or fingers, a "V" or "Z" or some

such.

Americans are always making the sign of Victory, eating turkeys and munching
popcorn. Were there any turkeys in the video clip?

Any ideas anyone ?

Peter, Paul and Mary
