Absolutely.

I'd also point out that modern techniques for wax removal are far less
intrusive than older ones. One method involves high frequency sound to
break down the wax and pretty well no discomfort.
My local surgery employs this techinique on the premises - carried out by
the nurse. Certainly the first thing to check.
