I'm just catching up on some old posts, so sorry for the delayed response.

I used to build mosfet amps and found BUZ900 and BUZ905 to be
excellent drop-in replacements for the 2S devices.

BUZ900 = N channel = 2SK134/2SK135. BUZ905 = P channel = 2SJ49/2SJ50

Now I know this is a silly question, but is the pin-out the same for the
replacement as for the original? The 2SJ49 and 2SK134 were originally TO3
cans, later replaced by a 'winged' flatpack - the body of which might even
have been green!

Chris, what type of circuit are you using these in? They sound pretty good!
Could you post a circuit diagram by any chance? Cheers.

I'll send you the schematic I use by email, though I'll have to get our
CAD guys at work to produce a .pdf file from the Cadstar schematic.

By the way, the BUZ900 and similar FETs work much better (in SPICE
simulations at least) in CFP output stages rather than in
source-follower output stages. For source-followers I would still use
high-transconductance FETs like IRL540 / IRL9540 if you can keep the dc
operating point well controlled.
