Default Marantz CD 6000 problem

I've a Marantz CD6000 (not KI version) that I've really enjoyed as a
great sounding CD player. It's recently developed an odd fault
though.

After a few minutes play, the sound can get crackly and the volume
swings wildy up and down from much louder than true output to barely
audible. Looking carefully at the display readout as the disc plays,
it doesn't appear as if the disc is skipping at all, as it remains
very linear.

This happens on all discs to a varying degree.

Anybody else had a problem with their Marantz? Perhaps dirty lens of
sticky laser tracking - though It hought they would have had more
severe jumping?

Thanks

Ben

no chance.

I'll bet its a dry joint, and probably a very obvious one too.
