Wiring up an old sub question
Hello All
I have a technical query about wiring up an old Rel Stadium. I'm
planning to use a pair of Anthony Gallo Nucleus Micros for the higher
frequencies and my trusty Rel for the lower freqencies. The problem is
that the Gallos can be damaged by frequencies below 125 Hz. Normally
these would be filtered by their sub but as my Rel doesn't have a high
pass filter I have bought a pair of crossovers from Marchand Electronics.
Traditionally my Rel was wired up like this:-
_
L |\ | |/|
-----| )------------o---------------------| | |
|/ | |_|\|
| _
|---------------------| |/|
| | | Sub
|---------------------|_|\|
|
| _
R |\ | | |/|
-----| )------------o---------------------| | |
|/ |_|\|
_
|\ | |/|
Where | ) = Amplifier | | | = Loudspeaker /\/\/ = Resistor
|/ |_|\|
Marchand suggest wiring their crossover for two speakers and a sub as
below:-
________ _
L | | High |\ | |/|
-----| X-over |--------------------| )----| | |
| |_____ |/ |_|\|
|________| Low |
| _
|--/\/\/---| |\ | |/|
10k |---| )----| | | Sub
| |/ |_|\|
|--/\/\/---|
________ |
| |_____| _
R | | |\ | |/|
-----| X-over |--------------------| )----| | |
|________| High |/ |_|\|
I have a three channel Arcam power amp which I can use in the set-up
shown above but my question is (finally) What do you think is the best
way to connect up my sub in this situation?
Many thanks
