I still have my trusty old Arcam 5 CD and it's still sounding very
sweet through a Delta 290 amp and Tannoy Mercury speakers. A vast
improvement was made to the sound last year by changing to QED Qunex
2 interconnects and QED Silver Anniversary speaker cables. Wow, what
a difference in ten years of cable development making the system
sound like a newly upgraded one.
What cables were you using before?

OMFG. that one tops it all - you can hear the difference between
different LASERS in a CD player?
Given a working laser, and identical output (ie. unprocessed output via
the same external DAC) I'll give you a straight grand if you can
reliably demonstrate your ability to hear the difference.

It would be a pretty cool trick, considering that all the data read from
a CD is buffered into memory before being fed to the DAC. I can't say
I've ever heard anyone claim that before.
