I feel that I have no place in a group dominated
(some might say terrorised) by a psychotic Scot
from the print room, and a born-again Christian
with a mouth like a cess-pit.

Don't bother to reply, SP, I shall either be out
with the Airedale, or listening to Shostokovitch on
my hand-built (not home-built) valve amplifier.

Cordially,

Iain

Come on, Iain, it's only AUTUMN! Don't be so S.A.D. !!

Things could get a LOT worse in terms of darker days ahead ... !
I suggest chilling out, and not getting so personally involved ... ;=})

I've ALWAYS enjoyed your posts, and I'd be sad if you left ...

I must admit I find the continual to and fro on vinyl/valves
analogue/digital terminally boring. I don't even look at those threads any
more let alone 'contribute'. I would have thought the more intelligent
members would have realised they were wasting their time and just stopped,
but maybe they just enjoy the senseless argument.

Please, Iain - DON'T GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks as if this ng is starting to work again. If we can simply IGNORE the
trolls on it and continue to post meaninful discussions, we will have our
newsgroup back again. However tempting it is to respond to trolls (I speak as
one of the worst offenders) it gets nowhere (they don't stop trolling or
insulting) The way we can rescue this ng is by posting NEW POSTS on different
topics - anything people fancy, just to get away from the ridiculous
overposting on ss versus valves, or analogue versus digital. I'm sure most of
us use or have used a combination so why not "and" rather than "or". If we let
these "this or that" type threads die out and replace them with more varied and
interesting ones, we should see people coming back and posting. Leaving the ng
is just playing into the hands of the trolls. We can do better than that. Andy

Iain you've consistently demonstrated politeness and restraint in reply to
many unnecessary attacks, however you must not allow the few to overlord
the many! Killfiles are handy or just ignore such postings like 'water
off....etc.
Your considerable experience in the record industry has brought a lot to
this NG, 'like a breath of fresh air' one poster remarked. I for one would
like to continue to see your informative postings. Maybe reconsider ..

Sincerely,

Mike

Anyone has a place in this group. Of course, if you spout nonsense,
you'll be called on it. It's kinda difficult to 'terrorise' anuone
from a keyboard. BTW, you just can't resist the personal insults
yourself, can you? :-)

I think you've missed out the majority poster? Or is that simply because
you are more inclined to agree with his beliefs?

I for one would be sad to see you go. Any fresh blood in this group with
something new to say is always of interest.
