Default Linn Sondek LP12 - No Line Level ??

Might be getting there - the cartridge is a TS11 but I cant find any
reference to it on either the Linn site, the googling the web or groups.

I have no references to a Linn Pickup/Cartridge badged TS11, neither do any
of the Linn users sites that I have on hand.

Are You sure its a Linn cartridge?

You might get better help sending the Linn helpline an e-mail :

Agreed. I've searched the web high and low and cant find any cartridge
with a reference TS11 - I may have misread something on the cartridge.

I'll see if I can get the buyer to have a look for the model and take it
from there.

Thanks again for the help.

That rings a faint bell in my brain . . . It wouldn't be a 'Stiltoned'
Nagaoka, would it? I had one, but they stopped doing the stylii - might
still have it tucked in a cupboard somewhere . . . (was a lovely sounding
device).

"Keith G" wondered...

Are you thinking of the MP11 with the boron cantilever??

No - I had one of those as well.
Nice sound, but the Stilton one was sweeter. So easy to listen to - Wish I
could find a new stylus . . . 8¬ ( I'd have it back in action as quick as I
could lay my hands on it!!

The closest I get in any cartridge reference haveing TS11 in its name is the
Audio Technica ATS11 - might that be it? (Cant seem to find any Nagoka using
the TS prefix.. The MP11 needles are videly availible) -- a good
startingpoint for cartridges and styli are : http://www.styli.co.nz/

I'll see if I can get the buyer to have a look for the model and take it
from there.

doo that..

Thanks again for the help.

You're welcome!

Offered the guy a full refund and we're meeting on Saturday,
(hopefully). I'll have a closer look at the cartridge and solve the
mystery.

Thanks to everyone for the info and interest.

Got the deck back!

The area where the stylus is has red sides and a gold front, with an "A"
logo above TS11, both in black on the gold front. Looks like it could be
the Audio Technica ATS11. If it is, is it a moving coil, or moving
magnet cartridge?

Many thanks,

Moving magnet of their own design IIRC. It should give a reasonable output
- but *not* line level! Replacement styli still appear to be around. I
think the numbers were ATS11 for the conical version and ATS11E for the
eliptical one. This was, I think, one of the bottom ones in AT's hi-fi
cartridge list and was pretty rugged. Do you think the problem is with the
cartridge or was he just connecting it to the wrong sort of input?

And I found that Stiltoned Nagaoka - it's a TS12, so I was close . . . .
