Default Any Murrard experts here?

No time to stop atm - I'm on a thrasher today, but I would just like to
briefly pose this question:

I've just bought some 'NOS Mullard' ECF82s off eBay, supposedly of French
production. They are in white boxes and look good - too damn good, in fact.
I suspect they may be fakes and wonder if anyone here can tell from this
snap:

http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/keit...steryvalve.jpg

(No biggie if they are, they weren't expensive - just so long as they do the
job and they do like 'nice'...!! ;-)

I've seen that 'busy biz' at the bottom of minis before but I don't remember
where. (Can't see it on the valves I've got on the go atm and certainly not
on any genuine Mullies I'm using elsewhere!)

Note the Chinese 6F2 (equivalent) behind the 'Murrard' - less fuss
altogether...???? (Albeit a tad out of focus!)

I've asked the Seller for confirmation that they are *genuine* but have not
heard back yet. Anybody got a clue? (Leading question, I know.....!!! ;-)

TIA

Email from seller (cellvalve) reassures me that the valves are, in fact,
genuine and that he and his father have thousands to sell!!

:-)

The fact that, despite my query, he left positive FB without waiting for
mine went a long way to help! (I bloody hate these sellers who expect you to
buy on trust, pay up front and then kiss their arses before they'll leave
feedback!!)

What's the factory/date code etched into the glass? There's people who
can give you chapter and verse if you've got that.

The equivalent to ECF82 that I know is 6U8A, a very good valve, and
readily available, with plentiful stocks by GE and Westinghouse
among others.

I hope you didn't pay too much for them. I recently bought 50pcs GE
for 35pence each. all NOS in original GE boxes and no quibble guarantee.

There is also a 6AU8A which should not be confused with the 6U8A as
the pin out is not compatible.

Er, no, they were a wee bit more than that!! :-(

(I only bought 4 of them....)

But what the hey? - The world's gotta go round, hasn't it??

Indeed it has:-) and you did such a good deal with the Chinese
amp anyway:-)

Presumably these valves are spares for the phase splitter driver.
Do you have a schematic? I would be interested to know the value
of Rc (the cathode resistor between pins 7 and 8 which
are linked and ground)

Could you take a "cheek" ? (That's a chinese peek:-)

Yep, give a little, get a little!! :-)

Yup, that and they're handy for itsy little circuits and I'm slowly building
up a parts bin.

Do you have a schematic?

No. I asked the Seller who said he would ask the designer/importer (Germany)
but I don't hold out much hope. (I'm not too fussed about a 40wpc EL34 PP
circuit - the world's awash with 'em.)

I hadn't planned taking the bottom off again for a while yet - can you not
see it on any of the pix on....

http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/keit...chineseamp.htm

....and 'count the rings'??
