Congratulations. The P100 is an excellent amp IMO, however when selecting
the valves then go for the lowest grid leakage as this affects how the valve
works in the AB1 mode of the amplifier, the lower the leakage the better the
power envelope.
The P100 was a fav of Ken Kessler for many a year, but as his favs were
ultra expensive cameras and wris****ches what credence that really holds god
only knows ;-)

Cheers,

Mike

Thanks Andy - got a reply (v. comprehensive) within an hour. I'll almost
certainly entrust a service to him.

Chris is a very friendly bloke who will go out of his way to be helpful. He
built the things in the first place!

Cheers Mike - I've been in touch with Chris Found who does the Beard
servicing, and I'll mention this. I've read the Kessler reviews - does
like his Beard amps - second to Dynaco he reckons/ed.

Yes I remember reading his original reviews plus some subsequent positive
comparitive mentions in other amplifier reviews. I actually heard the P100
again a few weeks ago when I collected one for a friend and did a
valve/health check prior to passing it on... and was again impressed by its
performance. The low grid leakage advice came from Chris during one of his
very helpful contacts.

regards,

Mike

Exactly! I seriously thought at one time of getting two & going
monoblocked - you'd have to go a long way to equal that combination of
musicality and grunt. The P100 IMO, in any form, is a great power amp
soundwise even by todays standards.

In the brief time I got to hear it, I could tell it ****ed all over any 100
watt ss amps I've ever owned or had the chance to listen to.....
