If you have some pictures, stick them on a website and tell us the URL. That will save those who are not interested from having to fetch images in which they have no interest. Thanks Simon As pictures are stripped off here, can you say what is written on it? -- Chris Morriss Hi, just opened my message and the picture shows allright here! But anyway: the speaker has a cast frame, consisting of three times three thin spokes, has "MADE IN ENGLAND" text near the edge. The magnet is about the size of a vinyl single, with a label silver/green in color, saying Goodmans of England, 12" (the size in very large numbers) loudspeaker, type:(sticker) C241A/1235/15 50 watt, made in England by Goodmans Industries, Wembley England. Googling the type got zero hits. Hope someone knows something about these. Simon |

Simon That type of cast frame is the form that Goodmans (when they were still a respected speaker company!) used for the later versions (around 1970) of the Audiom 51/61 range and the Axiom 201/301. (If they are 12" that is, the 15" unit was the Audiom 81) These were the hi-fi versions with a plastic roll surround. Yours sound like the PA versions with a plasticised corrugated paper cone termination. Is this the case? -- Chris Morriss |

I don't know what plastic Goodmans used but it shrinks over time and ends up flat, which does wonders for the compliance and xmax. -- Eiron. |

My Axiom 301s are all OK, but my sole Audiom 81 has this problem. Actually not all that bad, but the plastic surround isn't a nice semi-circular profile all around the circumference any more. I guess to an experienced speaker re-coner, putting a new roll surround on would be a simple task. -- Chris Morriss |

I remember seeing a couple of those back in the eighties, they were some double cone type.. the plastic was all wrinkled even they weren't that old at the time. So my speakers are of Audiom range, right? Thanks Simon |
