I'm surprised by the lack of CD Text on new releases. I have only
*one* pressed CD that has CD Text, dating back to about 2000. Why
don't they use it?

It's Grim down south..

Every new CD I have bought from Sony for the last few years has had CD Text,
as have some from other labels and also every SACD.

My point was that the RecordNow CD burning software wants to go out to a
CDDB database on the internet to get data that it will put as CD-text on
the CD, but it does not let me enter my own text. Seems kind of backwards.

I think that Sony have the patent on CD Text for commercial releases and
only Sony's own pressing plants are allowed to press CD's with CD Text. Do
a web search on Sony-DADC for more details.
