Default suggestions - new setup

After years of meaning to upgrade and making do with a mini system
(cough), I'm finally *really* going to upgrade to a decent hifi setup.
Basically I want a hifi system that makes my music sound as good as my
Shure E3s do...

My main criteria a quality sound and single-make system. Now obviously,
the latter may come to the detriment of the former, but hey ho.

So far I've considered
Marantz PM4400, CD5200 and the tuner (ST4000?)
NAD C521BEE, C320BEE
NAD C372, C542 and a NAD tuner
Linn Classik

The Linn certainly appeals, particularly with the mini-system-esque
options of alarm etc etc, but I like volume knobs (turny button things!)

Obviously, the best bet is to test the lot, which I will (eventually) do,
but does anyone have any thoughts/ experience on these?
