I found the phrase that Jim Lovelock uses to be appropriate.
"Radiation Therapy". i.e. it provides us with a remedy that is
certainly risky, and has drawbacks, but once your situation is urgent
enough it may become better than the alternatives... Our present
situation is not one I would have chosen to reach, but since we are
here now...



Yes, it was a programme on BBC News 24 with James Lovelock that
convinced me.

Of course, things wouldn't be quite so urgent if we didn't have such a
moron in the White House...
