You need a digital satellite PC card.
It does prompt the question of what would happen if I connect the
optical digital out on a SkyPlus box to the optical digital in
on my PC sound card. Anyone tried it with either stereo or 5.1?
You'd get a constant 2 x 16-bit x 48000 = 1.536 Mbps constant bit rate,
but that's linear PCM being transferred across S/PDIF. The bit rate I'm
referring to is the raw compressed MPEG bit rate. See:

because it is the bit rate that sets the nominal audio quality level.
