mahogany and ash, maybe you could stain the mahogany to something like
cherry?

There was someone on eBay.uk selling an excellent range of standard and
exotic veneers. I think they had an eBay shop - so they are probably still
doing business there. Worth a search. Their prices were very competitive,
too.
