It is the world's best alarm clock/radio but that's not why we built
it :-)
We wanted a really good looking single unit that would be as good as
comparable hi-fi separates and I promise you it is. Frankly it's sonic
performance is better than most separates systems we've come across
and has exceeded even our expectations. We also believe it is by far
the best performing all-in-one out there.
You'll have to buy the current issue of What Hi-Fi? to see what they
thought of it - copyright restrictions mean we can't e-mail or post
the full copy - sorry.
There was a healthy internal debate about whether or not to have a
volume knob - in the end not having one has not proved to be a
handicap as far as we can tell from the reaction so far and, in any
case, most people will use the remote handset most of the time. The
display does of course tell you what the volume setting is.
Solo has started shipping in the UK today and most Arcam dealers
should have them by the Easter weekend. There are a lot presold though
so there may be a short waiting list.
HTH.

Hi
I am looking for reviews of the new Arcam Solo.
I heard a rumour that it has been reviewed in Whats Hi-Fi.
Does anybody have this article and if yes, please would it be
possible
to scan this page and email it to me? I have been looking at the
local
library and magazine shop, but couldn't find this mag.
Link to other reviews of Solo would of cause also be warmly welcome.
Thanks very much in advance.
Regards, karsten

"The worlds best Alarm Clock/Radio" Mmmmmmm
hmmm - I was after a new alarm clock - was going to go for a £15 clock radio
effort, but this is much better.... ;c)
Basic question, perhaps, but any suggestion of how this compares in
performance to a (for example) £1k separates system (amp, CD player, tuner)?
Or for that matter, the Linn Classik?
And why oh why does one box have to mean no volume dial??
Nick
mmmm.... turny buttons...
