I dont know if this has been discussed before ?

You may have seen this amp being reviewed in the HiFi mags and getting rave
reviews,(HiFi World-June 2005) and I just got
mine today from an ebay seller in the USA and it is very good considering
its price is $20-30 or about £40 inc shipping to UK.

Currently mine is running on a on a pair of 3way bookshelf speakers (ITT
8072 speakers) fed from a Harmon Kardon DAB/FM tuner and its quite good
considering its low power. This is not my main system, but my 2nd system in
the "computer room/home office" where the amp is either a Marantz PM7200 or
an Armstrong 600. If this is what a cheap class D amp can sound like I dont
think it will be to long before we see a lot more of this technology used in
mainstream amps.

That "review" loses all believability instantly with the "compares with a
$15000 amplifier"

and unless you have pretty efficient speakers, 5W really isn't enought for
(in case of clipping=toasted tweeter) alot of hype on head fi forum too.

I've listened and done measurements (for work, not for home) on a
tripath based amp and the results are not that impressive. I strongly
suggest that if you want a quality class-D amp, get yourself a UCD180 or
UCD400 from www.hypex.com.

Oh yeah I've been IP blocked from Head Fi....basically members being

Agreed the T-amp is not a miracle, but it does provide an impressive
soundstage.

IMHO, it offers the most fun you can have with a (new) amplifier for
around £25--what mine cost me. Its tiny size also widens the range of
ways it can be played with. There are also new kits which use more
powerful Tripath chips.

I thought class D amps where generally considered for use with subs, is
class T not the better quality equivalent for full range amplification?
Having
said that my 372W rms (QC tested), fully digital class D amp cost me £150
(rrp £250)
so sounds cheap enough. Happy with mine Sub sounds great. )

Direct from Thinkgeek.com in the US. A friend and I bought two
and shared the VAT.

The amp delivers better results with a separate power supply than with
batteries. The review on TNT-Audio.com has details of this and a link
