I was walking early one morning on the beach, and saw an
upright elderly gent, clearly British, ex military,with a bristling
moustache walking towards me. As he strode past, I said:
"Good mornoing, Major" "Good morning, dear boy" he retorted.


I can 'pull rank' on that one:

A week or two back I was putting Swim on the train to Edinburgh for a
visit to her brother.

The attendant asked 'Are you 1st Class?' as he opened the door and we
walked up. I said 'She is, but I'm only 2nd Class'! He said 'Well, you
certainly look the part Colonel!' Nice eh? :-)

(First time I'd worn a suit in over a year, I reckon!! :-)

I've no idea where his place is (I've seen photos - looked like a little
white box to me) and I've got a 'standing ovation' to go there but it's been
a long time since we've had any contact....

There was a Caterham 7 at the garage the other day when I was filling
up. I noted my interest to the Mrs, but she said it was "crap" and I
