It was a great deal! I bought this terrific Bose sound system, and
they gave me a free Audi A3 3.2 Sport Quattro with 'flappy paddle'
gearbox! You don't get that kind of offer in 'high end' hi-fi stores,
although they *will* take more money for poorer sound....... :-)
Mate, you got ripped off! You could have got a McIntosh sound system
for £20000.
And they would have thrown in a 3.0 litre car with All Wheel Drive as well ...

But why the A3? Mid life crisis?

We call it the Legacy here, and it's a barge, damn near as big as my
A6. BTW, I don't know where you live, but it costs a basic £27,500
here in the UK against £24,125 for the basic A3 3.2 Sport Quattro,
which is hardly a bargain.
But why the A3? Mid life crisis?
There's only two of us, my existing A6 was too big, A3 easier to park
in town and practical, being a hatchback, TT too harsh. Don't confuse
the new A3 3.2 with the old S3. I had one of those too (briefly!), and
the 3.2 is a *vast* leap in refinement, having the same pace, better
handling *and* better ride, much less NVH and a generally nicer
interior. Truly, a gentleman's express. Mine is even in mumsy lilac
(Akoya silver to the marketing guys), so people wave the poor old
white-haired pensioner out of the lane, where if I drove a Boxster,
I'd have to sit there all day! It's only once I've blasted past half a
dozen cars in the first mile that they realise what a Q-car it really
is.............

I just spent a similar sum and bought an area of forest near Vaxjo
(southern Sweden) In fifteen years from now, the A3 will be a heap
of rusted steel an recycled plastic. The forest will have mature trees
ready to fell before replanting, with probably five or six times the
value of a new A3. Then, the value of the land will be.....
I won't incur any speeding fines either, or run over school kids
on pedestrian crossings:-)

Yes, but you'll still be a boring old failure who ran off and hid in
the frozen North to make dodgy videos. OTOH, my high-tech Borealis
shares will have made me a multi-millionaire while I've been having
lots of fun mowing down babies and polluting the Earth (which BTW is
designed for such abuse - Gaia, y'know).................

You deserve a mention in the Guinness book of Records, SP for
the largest number of factual errors in a single sentence:-)

Possibly, although unlikely, and certainly not in the one quoted
above............
You do have to admire the brass neck of an ex-Decca sound guy who puts
his name to the sound credit of a Finnish video called 'Cosmic
Sucker', about a company called Bonk Business......... :-)
Then you have to roll about the floor giggling..............

More deceptive than hooligan yellow, which is another option!

Actually, I like it - it's not boring silver, and it's not boring
black or 'lava grey', which seem to be fashionable ATM.
Goes nicely with the two-tone blue leather interior.

Agree *entirely* on the 'silver' (done to absolute death) but I always
though the German stuff looked very good in 'steely grey'.....
(If it's yellow, it needs to be an Alpha or a Ferrari, in my book....)
