Yes, I think you are correct.

What you might consider is buying a portable CD/MP3 player, and copying the
audio fiels from DVD to MP3 CD or whatever the MP3 player uses. (I have a
Goodmans MP3 CD player, which cost me £25)

A single CD can handle 5-20 hours of good-quality audio lectures in MP3
format..
