RE Clock kit. I have a CD-11 LE, £2500 in the mid 90s the clock fitted is
just a simple chip. I added the LC Audio clock and it made a definite
improvement to all aspects of the sound. If you have an old CD player it is
definitely worth getting it done.

FWIW, I'm running my GR20's from a Denon AVC-A11SR Home Cinema amp,
using
a
Marantz CD6000 KI signature CD player as my CD source, and I can't
tell
any
difference between mine and my mates setup with Linn Pre-Power amps,
Marantz
CD63 and new Spendor S8's..
OK I'll try again (hit send too early...)
Is that an original CD63? I'm still using one with a big old technics
amp,
Monitor Audio Bronze 2, and an ASW-100 and keep thinking "It's the
oldest
bit, change it" but can't find anything that will pursuade me to change,
except maybe dumping the lot for a Linn Classik (or Classik Movie).
Sorry, didn't mean a CD63, don't know why I put that :-s
He's using an old (10 year ish) Marantz CD10, the huge bulky one that
weights about 20kg. Keeps threatening to get one of these CD clock
upgrades, though I'm sceptical about any benefits...
Again, to my ears, my £250 (street price) CD6000KI sounds as good as the
CD10, which cost £1000 10 years ago. Don't know whether that means that
performance/pound is increasing, or that I just can't tell the difference
(though my hearing is fine)... either way... I'm happy.
Demo'd a Marantz CD6000 OSE and didn't like it at all, very harsh. Demo'd
an Arcam at similar money and also was not impressed. Tried the 6000KI
and
was blown away
Hell of a lot of player for £250.
Cheers,
Jon
