Default CD cleaning discs - any good?

Hi,

Does anyone have any experienceof CD cleaning discs? How do they work?

If by "work" you mean "ruin your player". That they excell at it.

Are they 'risky' in anyway? Do they do any good?

Yes. They're very good at what they do.

Ever seen what wiping dust off a plastic cover can do? Imagine doing that
at 300rpm. Rubbing dust (very small abrasive particles) off a lens
at high speed is a rather bad idea.

Pull the unit; pull the cover, and clean the lens with denatured rubbing
alcohol and a q-tip, being carefull not to leave any lint. This shouldn't
take more than 5 minutes.

Keep in mind that dirt on the lens is only one of many problems a cd
player can have and in the minority.
