Default Firewood Horn outbreak in Europe!

A while back I sent my email pal in Belgium a pair of Needles:

http://www.apah69.dsl.pipex.com/needles/needles.htm

as he was building a (dare I say it?) AN Kit1 300B SET... :-)

From the moment he got them his AE speakers were cast roughly to one side
and have never been used since, from what I can gather - see he

Well impressed (??) and appetite whetted, he was quizzing me about the
bigger boys. Not for me to build (the cost of shipping the little Needles
wasn't too trivial...) but 'how do they compare?' kinda thing, so I told him
to seek out a local carpenter and get some made up. (Impossible for him to
make some - a, he lives in an apartment and b, he's an engineer....!! ;-)

He did - check these out:

Beautiful work! (Fostex recommended enclosure for FE103E:

Check out how pleased the carpenter chappie looks and also....

....the steps up to his 'atelier'.....

I tell ya, it makes me embarrased to be English - here's me grinding 'em out
in me garridge!!

See my latest oeuvre (the little ones) in this pic:

(Now muchachos, wasn't that a nice *picture rich* post?? :-)

Thanks Keith,

I've just finished cutting panels for a pair of IPL ST5TLs:
http://www.iplacoustics.co.uk/S5tl%20Dome.htm

and having a cup of coffee before I start gluing up, so the piccies were
especially interesting :-)

Excellent stuff, Keith. You are without a doubt UKRA's Fettler of
the Year:-) Well done.

I think was Patrick who introduced the term "firewood horns".
It seems to have stuck.

Don't be embarrassed at working in your garage. I have a friend in
France who builds turntables. His workshop is a former abatoire,
"Chez Cochons" He rarely makes a pig's ear of anything, and after
all, it's the results that count:-))

OK, all glued up now, except for one side panel on each so I can add the
acoustic foam and stuff.. Now they are assembled they are *very* heavy, and
I haven't done the sand-filled bases yet. I'm taking pix at each stage and
I'll put them up on a website in a few days for you all to laugh atxxxx
admire.
