Default Subwoofer amps

Evening all,

Having spent the best part of a year sulking 'cos wifey won't let
me build an IB subwoofer, I've decided to build one in a box
(Keith, seeing all that sawdust in your garage has driven me to it!).

Does anyone know of any sane, reliable plate amps that are
readily available in the UK? I'm looking for about 250 'sensible'
watts, to drive a single Adire Tempest 15 in a (relatively) low Q
sealed box. It would be handy if it had low and high level inputs,
in addition to the usual sub-amp feature set, but not essential.

The best candidates I've found so far are out of the US, and don't
have a 230/240 volt option.

Ta,

Glenn.

Yeah, I like the smell (provided it ain't MDF!). I fear big
power tools though!

It's on the cards. I *really* wanted an infinite baffle, but having spent
12 months house bashing, I've decided it just isn't practical.

Will do. Thanks for the pointer.

Glenn.

Is something going on at Stryke? (Acoustic Elegance now, apparently) None
of their European resellers seem to have any stock, and the AV15 has
disappeared from their products page. Elsewhere on the site, they say they
have 'small numbers' of units manufactured 'in house'. I might hold on a
while
and find out what's happening.

The plate amps look good - thanks for that.

Regards,

Glenn.
