So what? You still can't hear differences among tables Course I can. A nice solid oak table makes a satisfying "thunk" when you whack it. An Ikea chipboard table makes a hollow "thwack" noise and sounds distinctly inferior. -- Glenn Richards Tel: (01453) 845735 Squirrel Solutions http://www.squirrelsolutions.co.uk/ IT consultancy, hardware and software support, broadband installation |

You just *believe* that there's a difference, but you duck any chance to *prove* that you really can hear a difference, even when there's an easy £1,000 up for grabs. Pathetic. Indeed, all the ducking and diving seems something of an indication that you don't really believe it any more, but you have to maintain the bull**** level to save face. Even more pathetic. Stewart, right or wrong, no-one can deny that you have an endearing literary style:-) I've been accused of many things, but having an endearing style isn't in the top ten................ -- Stewart Pinkerton | Music is Art - Audio is Engineering |

Well... sometimes I read the discussions in here and wonder. Then I go back to the system, and try swapping some interconnects around. And every time I hear a difference, which is consistent and repeatable. Every test I've ever done, blind or straight, has resulted in a clearly audible difference. As I said before, all you have proven is that under certain circumstances certain people can hear a difference. You cannot draw general conclusions from that alone. Ian |

wrote: If you can't hear the differences, good for you. It means you've got more to spend on music rather than the means to play it. No it doesn't necessarily mean that at all. You missed the other, and far more likely reason - if you can't hear a difference, it means that there *isn't* a difference. If I ever did hear a difference by swapping nothing more than 2 metres of cable, it would be so completely unexpected that I'd be wanting to make measurements to discern exactly what was changing. First I'd want to measure the levels of a selection of test frequencies (or better still a frequency sweep if I could obtain the gear to do it), and then I'd reach for a multimeter and perhaps a capacitance meter. Sooner or later I'd expect to see some factual objective measured difference between the cables that could explain what I was hearing. Rod. |

To the eternal shame of the Diocese of Chichester they chickened out and only allowed the inscription to appear in Gaelic "Duirt me leat go raibh me breoite". I don't have the Gaelic. d Pearce Consulting http://www.pearce.uk.com |
