Default Ebay Query - Serial No.s Of Equipment ?

"kake" wrote
I contacted an Ebay seller to request the serial no. of an item of
equipment, and they said they were unwilling to reveal the no. due to the
possibility of people trying to disguise stolen equipment - does this seem
like a legitimate concern, or should I read this as a warning signal, and
avoid placing a bid.

TIA.

Many people will not give serial numbers of hi fi on e-bay I sell hi fi on
e-bay, I will not give serial numbers.

If people ask for serial number to work out age, which often happens on
e-bay, what most people do is this

Amplifier serial number is 86xxxxx

This is normally good enough to check what mods have been done, and what
the specs are of the kit.
