Default Digital interconnects

Hi

Having just joined the world of home cinema I find I need a digital
interconnect between DVD player & Amp, which is the preferred method,
optical or co-ax?

Cheers

Whichever is the most convenient. Optical can be useful in the unlikely
event of an earth loop as there's no electrical connection, but it can
only be used over shorter distances.

I use a short length of co-ax with plugs I fitted myself. Works fine. I
used components I bought from Maplin, but I assume you can buy a complete
cable from them, or other similar suppliers for a few quid.

FWIW when experimenting with connecting various items of audio equipment I
never noticed any difference between co-ax and optical digital links, nor
when I changed one bit of co-ax for another.

Slainte,

Jim

Thanks for the advise, I will probably make up my own co-ax cable.
