Default Sennheiser headphones advice please?

Hi,

Could anyone with experience of Sennheiser headphones please advise me

about
HD565 and HD580 models.
Apparently the 580s are very good, as are the 565s. So, how do they

compare?
Are 580s better than 565s? Is the difference very much?

Do you like Sennheisers in any case? The other option commonly mentioned

is
Grado. Are these better?

Thanks, John

How about their top of the range Sennheiser HD600 for £120 ?
These are one of the best & I will never buy another pair of headphones
again .

The HD600 are the best out there. Good detail, bass and lots of it.

No competition at all!

Ok, I accept that the HD600s are the business. But what about the HD580s and
HD565s?
HD600s do cost £120 after all. Will the HD580s or HD565s be almost as good
for less £££?

John

I'd agree, plus they're comfortable for long listening sessions (excepting
maybe very hot climates) and it doesn't feel your heads in a furry vice.

Cheers,

Mike

Oh yes, and another thing...

How much does getting the best from headphones depend on the amp etc.
driving them?
I have an Arcam Alpha 8R amp and 8SE CD player. Is that kit good enough for
HD600s (or HD580s or HD565s)?

John

I only know about 580s. Very fine. Remember phones sound different on every
different set of ears because the ears actually change how they operate.
What's right for your ears may not be right for mine.

Personally, I prefer the HD580 to the 600, as I find the 600 to be too
bright. But maybe I haven't spent enough time at rock concerts! :-)

I thought the 580 and 600 were the same apart from the construction
design/materials?
