Default Castle Pembroke floorstanders

I'm looking for some new floorstanders in this price range and these are
well reviewed, they look good and aren't too fussy about positioning (if all
i've read is to be believed!)

Does anyone have these or has heard them, if so what do you think?

Castle have always made some of the best and easiest-to-listen-to
loudspeakers on the market, but take care. IME they are not suited to heavy
rock or the like or indeed anything played really loud. On the other hand
classical, choral, and jazz shine, as does some MoR. If you get them you
probably will never regret it, but do listen first if you can.

Default Castle Pembroke floorstanders

A few years ago I auditioned Avons, Harlechs and another Castle floorstander
because I loved the look of the things, and still do. I actually went out
with the wedge to buy a pair of Avons in my pocket, but musically I was a
bit put off because they sounded so "smooth", I wanted something that had a
bit more "life". I remember that they were great with Keb'Mo but U2 was a
bit "lacking". After many indecisive months of listening I got a pair of
Epos floorstanders even though they don't look anything like as good as the
Castles, but I'm still pleased with them and have yet to get upgraditis in
the speaker dept...!
I still love the look of those Castles, though.
I guess it depends on whether you buy with your ears, eyes or heart.
Whichever, I hope that whatever you get pleases you for years to come.
Cheers
DP

I have Harlechs (beautiful cherry finish) and the Keep Centre channel.
Beautiful. Sound is controlled refined and they plumb the depths as
the need arises. Not super-detailed, but smooth and musical. Jazz and
smooth music. No techno.
