The first thing you play when you've got some new kit...

As a little light relief from other discussions...
You've got a new piece of kit. You've set it up, run it in (or not),
it's
sat on your choice of support, your comfy chair is waiting and you're
ready
to play some music to see just how it sounds. So what's the first piece
of
music you play?
You want something that you're familiar with, something that'll give it
a
workout and let it show off and leave you thinking that the investment
was
worth it, and either sat back with all the hairs on the back of your
neck
stood on end or grooving around the room like a mad thing, according to
your
taste. What's it to be?
For me, it's part of 'The snowgoose' by Camel, from 'The flight of the
snowgoose' to the end of 'Dunkirk', taken from the version on 'A live
record'. Marvellous, and first in the queue every time.
What do you play?
Tony
Second in the queue is the last five or six minutes of the first part of
Ommadawn, and if I've got some new kit that's really improved things,
I'll
probably have been reduced to a quivering blob of jelly by then.
Usually it's either Trust or This Year's Model, both by Elvis Costello.
Camel-wise I tend to prefer Breathless or Rain Dances, 'cos they're more
song based. My wife usually sticks on Songs from the Wood or Heavy Horses
by
Jethro Tull...
John.
Ah , Heavy Horses , music to my ears .
