What do you feel is lacking in what you currently have?
Dynamics? Volume? Vocals muddy?

What is your interest in music?
As Background wallpaper, or you are more immersed in it to the exclusion
of everything else? (you should see me dancin' (or maybe not!))

Is there a TV in the same room?

Everything as its linked in through the TV for surround setup

OK. You have a choice on either ...

1) bettering (verb?) the TV surround sound system with an AV amp and
speakers which may do passable performance in the audio mode with CD's,

or

2) setting up a system designed just for audio (and keeping TV as it is)

Then you have a choice of spending your budget either

1) on a trip to richer sounds on some choice separates. Have a look at
the 'system savers' part of their website www.richersounds.com for
either hi-fi or home cinema setups.

or

2) gettting the advice of a shop who is a member of the BADA
(http://bada.co.uk/) and doing it properly with room demos, cheese and
wine/coffee and some of your own music...

or

3) really listening to opinion, read magazines & reviews - then go for
the cream of stuff which is offered daily second hand with lots of life
and undiscovered potential. I mean ebay, enthusiasts marketplaces,
small-ads, loot whatever... £500 may go a long way, and folks here may
guide you into getting something quite nice...

Yes indeed. What's the situation with digital amps? There are some
stonkingly good digital amps nowardays for little mazuma. I know a lot
of people build them as kits - is this an option?
