Default Firewood Horns Vs. Tannoys

Just in case anyone is interested.....

A conversation with one here had me looking at Ebay for a pair of Tannoy
609s and I found a pair with only a couple of hours to go (as you do..) - I
grabbed them for a *midweek bargain price* to compare them and, ultimately,
rip the drivers out of them for a speaker project. (Believe me, it ain't the
drivers muchachos - it's the cabinets...)

Well, for a kick-off (oops), ripping them apart is out of the question -
they are far too good for that. So it's a case of comparing them with the
Firewood Horns...

The Jerichos (new, improved with different drivers) hump them off in a
heartbeat as they would a lot off stuff I expect, but the Pinkies (Buschhorn
Mk 2) and the Tannoys are so damn similar I cannot yet put one before the
other. A couple of visitors (including one here) have been unable to pick a
'best' yet either - including a Tannoy owner and advocate.

For 'similar' read different - the image moves back and forth, but the range
is strangely similar and clarity/bass supremacy kinda swaps back and forth
on different sources/music, but once away from them (throughout the house)
it's impossible to tell which ones are on, if you don't actually
*know*....!!!

Bad for Tannoy? - No, they are *super* speakers.

Good for the Pinkies? - You tell me.....
