Does anyone know of anybody who can reliably repair 1970's audio
equipment? Preferably somewhere in the North West of England?
Not talking about high end stuff here - just run of the mill stuff -
music centres, portable radio-cassettes etc from people like Sharp,
Hitachi, Sanyo etc.
The value of such stuff is so low it wouldn't make sense to pay to have it
repaired. Also, some of the parts needed for repair - like drive belts for
cassettes, etc, might be hard to source.
I have a friend, Dave, who makes a good living selling this 60s / 70s retro
stuff on eBay. You wouldn't believe some of the prices he gets for stuff
that you and I would consider junk. He can spend a fiver at the tip, 30 quid
to get me to check the stuff over, and then sell it for a couple of
hundreds, so there is some mileage in it.
