Default Which end of the resistor is up?

About twenty years ago a fellow who wrote DIY articles for one of the
UK audio mags, maybe his name was Andy Bland, made a joke: "Which end
of the resistor is positive?" The magazine got a lot of replies from
people claiming to be qualified in electronics telling him which end of
the resistor is positive...

The internet is a *lot* like that. Except more so.

If I could reverse the resistors in my CD rewinder, I bet it would run
the other way.

Kal,

Wow, have been looking for one of the CD rewinders, broke mine this
morning while cleaning out the garage. The good news is that while looking
around the car i found a bottle of much-needed headlight fluid.

Probably be cheaper just to order another CD rewinder from Australia.
Be sure to run in the wrong direction when you get it to New York.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just ordered a DVD rewinder which, they
assure me, is backwards-compatible.

Doubtful. Not my sentiments and, besides, while I can read
tea-leaves, there's rarely anything at the bottom of my wine glass.

Andrew Jute McCoy, as the jurors in "Alice":
