Default The first thing you play when you've got some new kit...

So what's the first piece of music you play?

I play two things:
Steely Dan's later albums, because the mix is very complex and contains a lot
of low level details which you either hear or don't hear - you need some sort
of 'Yes-No' check besides the purely subjective..
Wagner's Meistersinger - Solti - because you need the acoustic sounds of
orchestra and voice to check on faithfulness of timbre (hopeless with amplified
music). If you don't check on timbre, you are really not checking the system at
all.
