R3 bitrates
Have just heard on today's R4's Feedback that, following complaints during
the Proms, R3 is being put back to 192 kb/s; unless broadcasting R5 forces it & R4 down to 160 kb/s. (Hope I've got that correct!) Seems that the new encoding equipment has been found to be less good than hoped for. -- M Stewart Milton Keynes, UK -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

(Hope I've got that correct!) Well, the R3 bitrate on DAB went back up to 192kb/s some days ago. ....and R4 is normally 128kb/s, not 160. What was NOT specified was the transmission schedule of R5. If it's always going to be live, we've gained nothing. |
