Line out is to feed to another appliance - in this case since it has an input for Mini-Disc then it is safe to assume that the output is intended to permit recording of whatever source is selected on the music centre. Indeed. The service sheet is on http://www.eserviceinfo.com Search for NSX-A777 MD is an line-level input for a MiniDisc. Line-Out connects to the pins of a chip which are labelled 'rec out'. -- Adrian C |

This manual is multipart. Download all, before decompressing\' but the download only says Part1 and a RAR extension, whatever that is. Geoff Lane |

AIWA-NSX-A777-S777-A767.part1.rar AIWA-NSX-A777-S777-A767.part2.rar download the first by clicking the link "To download the file, please, click here" download the second by clicking the \'1\' link next to the word "Multipart:" and then do the same. Go here for the Unrar.exe utility, which will turn the two files into a PDF. http://www.rarlab.com/rar/unrarw32.exe -- Adrian C |

What is the purpose of the Line Out sockets, is Line Out an unamplified signal as opposed to the various speaker outputs which I assume are amplified. Line out sockets are just that: signals at line-level meant to transfer the signal from the box they\'re on to another box that does something with the signal. You can power very small very efficient speakers with that signal, but the level is fixed and not meant for driving a speaker. Why would you do that? -Mikkel |

Convenience at the moment, I am not in a position to use the supplied larger speakers so the line out can go to some small computer type active speakers. The amp gives the convenience of being able to also connect the MP3 or mini disk player. Geoff Lane |

The other usual output is the headphone socket where the signal quality is low. Only decent kit has Line In and Line Out sockets. |
