No crash, no bang, no wallop....

Audiophile has unfortunately become a four-letter word, contaminated
by psuedo-high-end snake oil nonsense. As for enthusiasts, I suppose I
would have to call myself one, or I would hardly be coming to this
group. And yes I play vinyl, and yes I am fascinated by the machinery
it takes, and the lengths you have to go to in order to secure the
best sound.
But in terms of vinyl, I have my kit which I know to be as good as can
be got (high end, pretty stuff notwithstanding) and I use it mainly
for transcription and occasionally listening. But I'm not into
collecting and renovating other decks as you are. My interest is
really the music. I have to say, though that it is very interesting
watching the progress of your projects.
Yes the music available almost *only* on vinyl is more than enough
justification for a vinyl rig in anyone's home, but making busted or
neglected decks sing is, I hafta say, a great source of enjoyment for me. (I
do not tweak as such, but I will admit to being a bit of a 'fettler'!! ;-)
Nothing I have here is in the least bit 'high end' - *audio junk* I suppose
a lot of people would call it, but it does make me smile when people with
big-money kit are quite obviously impressed with the sound I get at times!
What I like is the sheer *musicality* of it - very often the clips I post
are after a cart (say) has been quite hastily changed and a record simply
bunged on!
Larf if you will, but I firmly believe that this old kit has *soul* and that
it usually responds superbly to a bit of TLC...!!!
