Default Boom when powering on my passive subwoofer

Hi guys,

I have been using my marvellous subbies with my DVD for a while. Until
recently I have got it connected so I can get some extra base from my
analog device running off the same amp. I have noticed when I power on
my subby I get a boom sound.

I am not sure what could be causing this. I have tried removing all
cables and tried powering on but the problem doesn't seem to go away.

Is there any danger to the equipment? Any thing I can do to fix this
problem?

Regards

Max
