What's sound forge?

http://www.sonicfoundry.com/

Personally I've not had any problems with Cool Edit Pro though.

What I've heard is that the new version from Adobe doesn't suffer this
way, but it has certainly been confirmed by others that version 2
(which I have) is a problem for effects - plugin or otherwise.

There's a copy of Audition sat next to me at the moment, not opened yet.
I can't do a direct AB with Cooledit Pro, but I have Cooledit 2000 -if
that works the same way I'd be happy to try it out and post some
results. Is there a particular method needed to reproduce this syndrome?

The caveat is that in the two years that I've owned Cooledit 2k, I've
never used reverb on anything (I use it mainly for digitising vinyl and
editing dialogue for video), so I'll need instructions!

I have Audition but it doesn't seem to be able to export as MP3 in anything
higher than 128k, altho it does seem to rectify this reverb problem. How can
I export at a greater quality??

Press the "options" button in the "save as" dialog box. Bit rates up to 320
KHz are supported.
