What's the game with these REALLY expensive IEC mains leads that
are
the rage in the mags? Are they serious? Sounds like total Bo**ocks
to
me!
The audio industry has a history of creating purchasing
opportunities for
bits of kit you didn't know you needed. Things that spring
immediately
to mind a
- special interconnect cables
- special loudspeaker cables
- special mains cables
- mains power conditioners
- special equipment supports
- electronic room correction
- new media standards (new players, re-purchasing software)
- more than two audio channels (more speakers, more power amps, ...)
I am not necessarily saying the above are all total Bo**ocks but I
think
at least some are. Definitely a case of caveat emptor.
This all goes back to 'Rip-Off Russ' as mentioned in an earlier post.
But if you want to read the output of a real nutter, go look at Peter
Belt. He has found that putting tin foil under one foot (yes, just
one) of four on a CD player improves the sound - all to do with
'energy waves' and the like.
As Wogan often says, they're not all locked up yet!
