Hmmm.... "as intended"? Do you mean "as they would sound in perfect
surroundings", "as they would be mixed to sound at the recording stage"
or "as they would sound in typical performance surroundings", which is
probably what the composer had in mind. ;-)

I think that what the producer and artists decided they wanted people
to hear is as good as you can ask for. Uncolored reproduction gives
you exactly that.

The job - and aim - of a decent recording engineer of classical music is
to capture the sound as heard on his speakers as close to the ideal as
possible. By whatever means. Any reproduction equipment which *adds* to
this will by nature also spoil it.
