Default My new Sennheiser HD-555's burping...

"max graff who is related to Vanda "

I purchased a set of new Sennheiser HD-555 from a local hifi shop.
They sound really good but at high volumes, low frequencies seem to
crack them. At lower volumes all sounds good.

** So you are driving them with what ????????????

A CD player ?

My older $20 TDK's (though though not as detailed) seem to handle
lower frequencies pretty well or atleast gracefully attenuate them.

** Are they 120 ohms nominal impedance and of "open ear " design ?????

Bet not.

I am tried running my headphones off my Denon and Marantz amp's.

** So the drive is likely fed to the phones via a resistor of about 470
ohms.

TDK's are close ear design.

** Results in far more apparent bass.

Is this burping a normal thing on open designs?

** Maybe you can try a little " gripe water " ...........

....... Phil
