Default graphic equalizers:how to wire up?

any one have any idea on how to wire a (Marantz) equalizer up to a hi
fi? ive had a few eq's in the past but I just cannot remember what
goes where. on the back of the eq i have a line in/out and a tape in/
out.I'm confused as to what goes where.I mean does my cd lead (from
the player) go into the eq input then a lead from the eq output to the
cd input on my amp? then it's trying to wire up the eq to the tape
deck! my amp does have a tape monitor button.any help would be
appreciated.

I don't fully understand what you are saying, but put simply it goes:

CD to EQ to Amp using the the 'Line Out' to 'Line In' each time - or
Tape In or Out, which is effectively the same thing.

No?

Keith, thanks for the reply. I just don't undestand where the tape in/
out's come into play.I mean there are 3 lots of them,on the eq,amp and
tape deck itself.I understand I have to create a sort of chain, but I
just cannot figure it out.

I still don't understand what you are saying - do you want to use a Tape
as well as a CDP or summat?

Each pair or Tape In and Tape out will be a single 'Tape Loop' - the
idea is you can do Tape to Tape &c, but if you only want to connect the
CDP to the amp via the EQ then just use Line In/Out or Tape In/Out as
being much the same difference. All you will need to do is be sure you
have the correct Tape Loop selected or you'll get no sound.

Just hook 'em up and fiddle about with different connections 'til summat
comes through - keep the volume down if the amp is on or you'll bugger
your speakers up!!

You are very welcome - I know bugger-all about Tape Loops myself other
than that they can almost always used as Line In and Line Out in
'normal' circunstances, but there can sometimes be differences in the
circuity which, AFAIA, can be more *direct* than Line In/Out - missing
out stuff like Tone Controls &c.

??
