Default Old CD player and CDRW

My old Marantz CD63SE cd player will play CD-R but not CD-RW media. Does
this have anything to do with dye colour or is it down to other factors?
The CDRWs I am using are dark blue. Is it possible to purchase CDRWs that
will play in otherwise non compatible players?

Thanks.

Early cd players had difficult with rewritables as the output from the
reader is lower see:

I can't be bothered with rewritables, the disks seem to scratch more easily,
they're slower to write and they're much more expensive. That's a pretty
unusual colour I think, for the writable side of cd rewitables.

You might have more success with a newer player. Or by noy using
CD-RW/ Do you really need to? CD-R media only costs pennies.

It was worth asking I suppose. I'll just use CD-R. After all like you said
they only cost pennies.

Or just buy a cheap new CD player. They've been commodity items for
some time now.
