Yes, good way to sell that gear. Couple of tips -

Sell smaller items first to get some feedback. People will be more
inclined to bid on the more expensive stuff once you have
feedback.

Search 'completed items' for the things you are selling before you
put
them up. It will help you establish what your item is worth, what
starting price to use.

Provide shipping costs up front. Don't forget insurance!

Decribe accurately, including faults and cosmetic damage.

It's not a good idea to cut and paste text from other auctions.

Use clear, detailed photographs. More is better.

If you allow people to collect, "cash on collection" is best. Do
NOT
let them pay up front for anything of signficiant value with
Paypal.

Why not?

Becuase they can claim not to have received the goods and get a
chargeback .. it happens

I thought most of the reputable parcel companies offer on-line
tracking, right up to the recipient's signature - wouldn't that be
proof of delivery?



There are stories floating around where people have signed for empty
packets and bricks in parcels to get 'POD' and facilitate a Paypal
Refund scam - don't how it works (I was told - went in one ear and out
the other) or how true it is....

Why not?

I was going to ask that too. Although if someone was collecting something
I'd expect cash. Unless for a large sum - I'd not know how to check for
forgeries.

OK Gio, I hope you like it; if you post any observations on the
groups, please ensure to include ukra - I would be very interested
to hear your opinion. From viewing earlier this evening, I can
confirm that DVDs played through it ('AV in') suffer no loss of
quality at all, from what I can see! (Tested with Kill Bill Vol. 1
- the Okinawa sequence!)

One thing - hook it up and scan the stations in before you put an
HDD in it, or the machine will play dead!

no report for a bit. It seems a little strange that the machine plays
dead when a drive is fitted. I would have thought the machine would
have set about formatting the new drive on boot-up then would have
been ready for tuning. By the way what is ukra ? The only thing I
know with those letters are The United Kingdom Rocket Association
(UKRA) as in www.ukra.org.uk/ If it means something else then you
will have to let me know because my isp does not list ukra on the
newsgroup list.

Well the unit arrived today and after following your advice re tuning then
shut down and add an old HD followed by a reboot / format and things are
looking well. I had to adjust the colour and brightness but other than that
it records programs and after a bit of confusion over changing channels
while recording on the other tuner it worked well. Whether it will be like
that 12 months on is another thing but till then it will sit next to my
Humax unit.

Yes, the lack of a title from the EPG is a PITA - it leaves you no
choice but to title the recordings the hard way if you are going to
leave them on the machine for any length of time. (Imagine 3, 4 or even
500 Gig of recordings all named 'BBC One-1 to BBC One-328 &c. -
nightmare!)

I still say it's a doddle for 'watch & blow' and 'chase play' viewing,
though.

As it isn't going to be possible (?) to take movies off the HDD, I ran
the S-Video output round to my little cheap (but good) BenQ W100 digital
PJ and was quite impressed with the results which ranged from
'watchable' to really quite good, according to the broadcast and
original material. I haven't changed any settings at all and would say
the colours (and blacks in particular) were really very acceptable;
allowing for the digital camera, check these out:

use my all in one remote to control the basic functions then I will be happy
because the supplied handset does seem -in my case- to be very directional.

The Far East has a number of hi-fi enthusiasts
who will pay big money for classic vintage valve
gear; a local guy used to have a business
buying in the UK, selling in the far East,
via a web site.


In the 1960s my mate used to be a engineer for Radford electronics and
owns a very nice Radford 30/30 valved stereo amplifier complete with
preamp from the period.
I've been trying to get him to put it on ebay, as he might just as well
make a few bob whilst he still has the chance, especially as he hasn't
used it in recent times and probably never will.

Radford is the most sought after of all the UK valve amps.
They command prices higher that Leak, and much higher
than Quad. With the exception of the above, plus
Kerr McCosh, Lowther, and Shirley Laboratories,
the others are really worth much.

I don't know the 30/30 model to which you refer. The STA25 was
a 25W push pull EL34 amp, and their best seller. The 15W version
(usually monobloc also sold well) The STA 100 stereo amp is
very rare indeed.

On another dual tuner Freeview PVR (Tvonics DVR-FP150) some users
noticed an improvement with changing the supplied inter-tuner lead for
something a bit better. Maybe that might apply for yours?

You had me checking - just now, mine worked pointed up at the ceiling,
standing virtually behind the telly and pointing to a door opposite the
telly, from outside the room out of sight of the telly and directly off
to one side of the telly (180 deg.) at about 2m distance!

It couldn't be *less* directional!!
