The sooner the big boys get out of it, the better off musicians will be! The big boys are just middle men lining their pockets off the efforts of poor artists. With the technology these days to produce recordings rather cheaply and distribution thru the internet, who really needs the big boys? Radio stations will play what ever catches on and gets them ratings, they don't need the big boys to introduce the music! :-) |

more from the 'Kurt Hamster school' of uk.rec.audio-ism:
But in practice it is almost impossible to achieve without using the big boys for distribution. How about BitTorrent? Of course then you can't easily charge for it, but I recon an in-demand musician could live perfectly well from live events. If you ask me the end of millionaire artists can only be a good thing. -- Jim H jh @333 .org |

Oh, you want to get RICH? :-) Carry on that way, you'll find yourself getting a stable of artistes, employing a Marketing Director.. .....Hey! Isn't there a market for 5 or 6 pretty kids to do dance moves while pretending to sing a bit of happy-pop? Hold on - I'll put an advert in the "Stage"..... :-) |

Check with the CCLA Oh dear! :-) Playback of the deceased's favourite music at the funeral is pretty universal nowadays. I'm sure the church has approached this issue. In my experience many have not. They will almost certainly have approached the issue of printing out copyrighted words by obtaining the CCLA (Church Copyright Licencing Authority) but probably don't realise that a separate licence is concerned for playing prerecorded music. It's not a big issue but a church will want to make sure they are doing the honest thing in such circumstances. Now, do you recommend I wipe my arse front-to-back or the other way? :-) I have no recommendation on that topic.
