Please excuse this (one-time) cross-posting, time is of the essence.
Has anybody got 'Highland Cathedral' and the 'Braveheart Trilogy' both on the 'Highland Cathedral' CD by the Royal Scot Dragoon Guards (Scotdisc No. B000031KBF) that could possibly email them to me as MP3s asap (like this evening or tomorrow at the latest)? These tracks are wanted for a funeral that is taking place early next week, up in Scotland. (The CD has been ordered from Amazon but might not arrive in time.) Many thanks. Keith G |

Kieth, why in Heaven's name would you accept a request like
this if you're not fully prepared? Most cases, the family doesn't remember any of the funeral service or decisions they made! Good luck to you anyway! John "Keith G" wrote in message ... Yes, so am I and the Funeral Director concerned fully knows the score as this a regular (100%?) practice nowadays, I gather.... Moira's mum (who the music is wanted for) is the LAST person who would have wanted to rip anyone off, believe me. The CD 'Highland Cathedral' *has* been ordered from Amazon (Order #026-3038464-8074002) which covers that one - Mel Gibson and James Horner will just have to do the big thing and take it on the chin for their part. (It's just the one gig.........) I've got my own theories about how the 'Royalties' system and decades of greedy overpricing have caused the MI's current problems (if problems they really be - maybe it's just time they grew up a bit) but now is not the time...... Many thanks, once again, to those who responded. KG |

more from the 'Kurt Hamster school' of uk.rec.audio-ism:
But in practice it is almost impossible to achieve without using the big boys for distribution. How about BitTorrent? Of course then you can't easily charge for it, but I recon an in-demand musician could live perfectly well from live events. If you ask me the end of millionaire artists can only be a good thing. -- Jim H jh @333 .org |

They will almost certainly have approached the issue of printing out copyrighted words by obtaining the CCLA (Church Copyright Licencing Authority) but probably don't realise that a separate licence is concerned for playing prerecorded music. It's not a big issue but a church will want to make sure they are doing the honest thing in such circumstances.
